I have found a desire within myself that no experience in this world can satisfy; the most probable explanation is that I was made for another world......Peponi

A wee bit about the artist

Linda Wright-Firgard

I was born in Tennessee. However during my younger years we relocated in the US 5 times.

As an adult I made the move to Tahoe, Kelseyville then to Ferndale California. Here I spent most of my life until my move to Florida then finally landing in Iowa.

A retired surgical veterinary technician with a love of all creation.  Whether it was during a surgery or as I work on an art piece I see my abilities as gifts from God. The love of creating and healing that has been in our family for generations.

The northern California coastline has and will always be a source of inspiration. A place I like to call home even though I haven't  lived there in many years, however I visit when I can.

Along with my travels to Scotland & Ireland, my Scotch/Irish heritage is evident in much of my work with my woodland creatures and celtic wood and stonework .

Along with being blessed with a wonderful family , I also am so very blessed to live with my beautiful wolf-dogs and Irish wolfhounds that I am able to share with others.

I                          A TRUE STORY

When I was 7 years old my family and I visited the San Juan Capistrano mission. At the mission there is a  fountain with a statue of St. Francis. Mom told us about St. Francis. He believed that nature itself was the mirror of God. He called all creatures his “brothers” and “sisters”, and even preached to the birds. She gave us each a penny to make a wish and toss the penny in with all the other pennies in the water. My wish was that I would be like St. Francis as I had a love of creation even then. Later as an adult after my move to California I purchased my first horse for a cord of manzanita wood. They called her Cappy. Before I left with her I asked how they came up with the name Cappy. The reply- Her full name is Capistrano.

It was only a few months after getting Cappy that I started my profession as a surgical veterinary tech. Cappy had come down with a high fever. I called out a vet and while he was there treating her he suggested I apply for a position at a clinic that was owned by Dr. Ralph Lewis. At the time I found Dr Lewis to be horribly difficult to work for but now I am thankful because he pushed me to learn. That foundation was the key to my success. I later went on to work for some of the most awesome vets you could work for.

I learned a lot from this story from my life. Even as a child the Lord hears the desires of you heart. Through hard times He has carried me. Through weakness, He strengthens me. Through sorrow, He comforts me. When I lack wisdom He guides my hands.Through Him I have learned what true joy is....all His creation. OK,except bats...nope...no bats in the house please!
